Here are some photos of the Year 8s at Tek Rush and Year 5/6 at skiing on Thursday.

The year 8's were amazing with delivering three 1 1/2 hour workshops explaining and sharing the NXT robotics kits. They really stepped up in their leadership roles and other teachers and parents commented how in passionate they were with robotics. Very proud moment. Apparently it was one of the favourite workshops.

Here is a basic list of what they did for each workshop

  • Introduction by RPS students  to the groups and shared why they enjoy technology and robotics.

  • Asked questions to each student - what they liked about technology when they did the roll call

  • Presented an 'engage clip' from NXT robotics

  • They made their own Power Point presentation about the NXT Robots and sensors explaining along the way and taking questions.

  • They then put them into groups and worked with them on the basic NXT programming

  • They then supported each student in their group to make a basic programme using the 5 NXT sensors

  • Went back and shared a Video clip showing the use of more complex programming.

  • Students then made their own complex programming

  • Debrief at the end about new learning that had happened
